Established in 1885 by Reuben Wales.
Was used by entire community since then.
Lewis County was trying to push land owner to obtain a license and water treatment plan that he could not afford and threatened him with $5,000 a day if he didn’t comply.
He created a wood trough to make collection less easy for patrons to appease the city so that the spring would not be completely stopped.
The County deemed it not fit for drinking because he couldn’t do all the steps required of a Class A public water source.
I still wanted to mark it as a spring because I was so happy to have found it in my community.
It is located just at the bottom of the hill when driving down Evans Rd. Very easy to access.
