Originally revered by Native American Ute Indians as “medicine” springs for their healing properties, these waters have historically served as sites for both physical and spiritual rejuvenation. Now, the Old Town Hot Springs are organized at a non-profit and are open year-round to visitors.
The Heart Spring serves as the cornerstone of Old Town Hot Springs. Flowing naturally, this mineral hot spring releases approximately 220 gallons of water per minute at temperatures between 102 and 103 degrees Fahrenheit, supplying all the pools within the facility. The steady Heart Spring has maintained this consistent flow for over a century.
The Heart Spring is extra special because water emerges from the ground at a therapeutic temperature, eliminating the need to mix it with cooler river water to achieve comfort. This preserves the rich mineral content, offering an authentic experience unlike many other hot springs.
The Old Town Hot springs are all outdoors and is quite developed with a kid’s play area, two water slides, lap lanes, wading pools for children and soaking pools for adults. Inside there are locker rooms, restrooms, Old Town Market sells snacks, fitness classes, a climbing wall and meeting rooms.
