Ecotopia is a great example of a private spring that was not in great shape when it was a public hot spring. There was lots of trash, it was challenging to access, and many people did not respect its sacred nature.
The hot spring went into new ownership around 2015 and it’s encouraging to see how much better it is now! They have an easy path, put lots of work into building natural pools, and they have limits on reservations so it doesn’t get overcrowded or trashed.
It’s awesome that the river is super close for cold plunges, and they have a wide variety of temperatures that differ in each small pool.
This is certainly one of the best hot springs in Southern California. To make a reservation check out ojaiecotopia.com
