A public spring. Locals have been drinking the water from the spring for hundreds of years.
To get to the spring you go to a public Shelter camp in a national protected area with ancient moors. This shelter camp is listed in a Danish public list over nature shelter camps you can visit for free.
When you arrive to the shelter (3 shelter, fire pit plus compost toilet/outhouse) you follow a small nature pathway for about 2-300 meters through a small forest – though it feels more like an area full of trees in the middle of the moor .
The spring is coming up in a small lake right next to the shore – about 1 meter into the water. People have laid stepping stones and branches in the water so you can step all the way up to the outpour of the spring to fill your water containers and bottles.
The water spring out with high pressure – enough to make a little fountain in the lake. There are big amounts of water coming out of this spring at all times of year… it never seems to change.
The municipality is checking the water quality regularly as they are giving advise on the official Free-Shelter camp page that for this particular shelter place the nearest clean water source is the spring a few hundred meters down the nature path.
