Boy Scout Hot Spring is described as a gem in the rough rocky terrain that surrounds the remote spring. It requires a moderate hike and some climbing experience to be reached. The terrain is very rough with some points requiring use of some fixed line for rappelling down the rock walls. A ladder was installed in the past, but no current information could be found if it is still standing, so plan accordingly. Do not attempt this hike during harsh/wet weather, or during extreme heat!
The source of the spring is around 125 degrees F and flows naturally through the canyon, where it collects in a manmade pool. There can be multiple pools with varying sizes depending on prior weather, and the season. The spring is in a wash area, so the pools are often disturbed and need to be reformed. The hike and spring are relatively remote, so make sure you pack and plan accordingly, as there are no places to resupply. Foot traffic varies.
