Situated just north of the Oregon-Washington border, outside of the town of Carson, Wind River Hot Springs is a set of two primitive hot springs. These natural pools are positioned directly adjacent to the Wind River. It features two bedrock pools where hot water bubbles up from the bottom. The first is usually around 90 degrees and full of algae and silt while the second has much warmer water typically around 100 degrees. Those who brave the journey and tricky legality, are rewarded with almost guaranteed privacy due to the difficulty to reach. Though local foot traffic during fishing seasons and weekends occurs.
Access is complicated as the springs themselves are located on public land (below the natural waterline of the river) and are surrounded by private property. There are a few ways to access them legally, but trespassing on private land is not an option. The most common form of access is to cross the river in late summer because of the lower water level. There is no camping options due to the surrounding private property.
