Pohoiki hot springs consists of the main very hot and large sandy pool, a warm smaller jungle pool, and a few smaller pools of varying temperatures. The main large pool was formed after the 2018 lava flows, reinforcing the very real fact that Hawaii is always changing and evolving. The ocean is close by and great for contrast hydrotherapy, but be careful of strong waves, especially in the winter.
The springs are just a short walk from the Isaac Hale Beach Park you can drive to. Just like all natural streams and oceans in Hawaii, wearing sunscreen is strongly discouraged. You never know how the springs will change, or if they will be around forever so enjoy them while you can!
