Driving north out of Guttenburg, IA this site is located just off of Clayton County Road X65, also dubbed The Great River Road.
A small parking area and day shelter provide a welcome to you. A trail leads uphill from the shelter, where you’ll find a placard before your accent. Our spring (season) visit allowed for easy trail usage (sorry some slippery areas) but leads along the stream that flows from the spring and flows over moss-covered terraces.
The source is not hard to find and is marked by a small, aged, concrete basin.
We don’t know if the water is safe, but it tastes good. We’ll update if one of us falls ill from drinking. (Not a recommended test method.)
