Abita Springs has been a spa town over over a hundred years. The water is drawn from a deep aquifer in the Southern Hills in some places 3, 000 feet deep and from structures five million years told.  It was considered to have healing properties by the local Choctaw. The Abita beer brewing company uses this water. There is a fountain in the center of the town where anyone can access this water. It is beside the central roundabout on LA 36 next to a gazebo.
