As of 2025, Ritter Hot Springs is closed to the public due to renovations. Prior to its closing, Ritter was described as a seasonal rustic family destination, offering an expansive outdoor swimming pool, 4 cement soaking tubs, as well as a hot springs shower. Ritter’s swimming pool is a warm 90 – 95 degrees. Four old cement tubs are across a swinging bridge on the John Day River, and regardless of soaking option chosen, the water was not treated.
