Located on the north bank of the Liard River, ~3 km downstream from the Coal River confluence in British Columbia. Foot access only from the Alaska Highway.
Up to 15 thermal seeps emerge from bedrock over a 300 m stretch between the river and a clay bank. Temps range from 20°C to 48°C (68°F–118°F), with most around 35°C (95°F). Water is clear, odorless, and moderately mineralized (bicarbonate, calcium, sulfate, chloride, magnesium). Gas bubbling is common.
Several small soaking pools exist, formed by tufa. Best pool is ~3 m wide, 1 m deep, fed from algae-covered bottom. Two nearby vents flow well at 48°C (118°F).
Tufa formations are red, orange, and brown, contrasting with green/red algae. Navigation is difficult—approach details are limited. Use NTS map 92M/10. In winter, pool temps remain around 37°C (98°F).
